What Are You Learning About Yourself Right Now?

What Are You Learning About Yourself Right Now?

What are you learning about yourself right now?

I'm learning how NOT in control I am. That I need to be continually returning to my faith to put me into a peaceful, loving space. I recognize that I have needed this lesson and I am grateful for it.

I'm learning to embrace myself ... who I TRULY am, not who others have taught me I should be. I am having so much fun with this! I've been letting my "inner hippie" have influence in my decorating and I'm giddy as I watch my hubby grow a ponytail! He's having fun, too!

I'm learning when I focus on what's wrong in life, I'm going to find it every time. I COMMIT to finding the GOOD! I am focusing on what is going WELL!

And TODAY I'm making a Ta-Da list! As opposed to a To-Do list. Instead of seeing everything I DID NOT accomplish at the end of the day. I'm going to see the GOOD things I DID ACCOMPLISH!

So, I'll ask you again. What are you learning?

Finding Comfort in Routines

Finding Comfort in Routines

Do you have a daily routine you follow? Are you more of a schedule person? Would you rather fly by the seat of your pants?

I find great comfort in my daily routines. I have a pretty strict morning routine to launch my day and put me in a good emotional space. This morning foundation has been key in helping us be consistent with our homeschool studies. I am always tweaking and refining it to make it better for the season we're in.

Children naturally find comfort in routines. They LOVE to know what’s coming next! It also reduces the amount of mental energy that’s required to figure out what needs to be done at any given time. It helps to form good habits.

I have afternoon and evening routines that I find help life go more smoothly, too. These involve laundry, getting dinner on the table, and having clean dishes.

What does your day look like?  What could you implement to make the day run more smoothly?

How Does Your Garden Grow?

How Does Your Garden Grow?
What are you growing in your garden? These pictures are from what we call our "Kitchen Garden". I LOVE this garden. It's just a few steps outside our house. It's EASY to go out for a few minutes to putter around and enjoy being outdoors. We have Brussels sprouts, "cutting lettuce", radishes, tomatoes, onions, green beans, sweet peppers, and some ever-bearing strawberries. We also have herbs in pots...i.e. peppermint that won't take over the whole garden! Can anyone else relate? ðŸ¤£

Peony or Paeony?

Peony or Paeony?
How do you pronounce the name of this beautiful flower?  PEE-oh-nee or PI-nee?  Or some other way?  At our house it's a "PEE-oh-nee" and a beautiful reminder of FAMILY.  This plant came from David's parents' home many years ago.  I treasure it.  I want my children to treasure it.  It's a piece of their legacy.  When I look at it I'm reminded of how nervous I was to meet them for the first time.  The moment I looked into their faces I KNEW it was going to be ok.  I fell instantly in love with them, and I know they loved me, too.  My mother-in-love was a precious soul who loved her family immensely.  It was so rewarding to learn things from her.  It was FUN to watch David tease her and make her laugh until tears streamed down her face.  I'm so grateful for the loving relationship and the time I had with my in-laws.  I look forward to seeing them again one day.

Do you have something in your garden you treasure?
